Wearing clothing that provides tactile sensory input and deep pressure help children to better organize and focus on tasks while maintaining more appropriate behavior responses. In addition, children with lower tone, or hypotonia musculature, will experience postural support along with the sensory benefits.
Throughout her career as a Pediatric OT, Susan noticed the only garments available for sensory input were improperly sized, stigmatizing for the wearer, and something she would not want to put on her own children.
Kozie Clothes was founded by Susan Donohoe, a Pediatric Occupational Therapist Certified in Sensory Integration, Sensory Enrichment Therapy, and a longtime advocate for children with special needs. Kozie Clothes was established as a way to incorporate Neuroscience principles into fashionable, on-trend, adaptive clothing and products for children with sensory and other medical needs. It is from this passion and commitment to helping children the concept for a line of adorable and kid friendly products offering therapeutic benefits, safety, and ease of use evolved.
