Items / Materials to Include in your Pretend Play Box or Storage Container:

With pretend play, anything can become something of importance, so it is great to have a variety of items that could be used in multiple pretend play creations. Some items to begin with can include:

o   Empty cardboard boxes big enough to sit in, crawl through, or curl up inside

o   Play clothes (shirts, pants, hats, gloves, handkerchiefs, purses, scarf, vest, knee pads, jacket, apron, variety of socks and shoes)

o   Play cooking pots, bowls, wooden spoons, plastic cups, an old tea pot, plastic plates

o   A variety of soft toys and/or dolls

o   Drawing tablet and crayons, small chalkboard with chalk

o   Costume jewelry (without pins or sharp edges); may use magnetic clip necklaces for safety

o   Strips of yarn or ribbon

o   Pack of stickers

o   Paper towel and toilet paper cardboard tubes

o   Clean large butter, or cottage cheese tubs with lids

o   An old cordless phone without the battery inside (for safety)
